A house or a home?

There are many beautiful houses around us.They look so grand on the outside, all seems perfect. I too, have even seen a huge house, and wondered what it would be like to live there. To have a pool,a game room,a massive kitchen (For my husband, who is an awesome cook.),four floors of space for our family and all our friends too. A lovely garden,oh my,and a library, all the wonders I can only imagine.Yes, I have fallen into that trap of thinking,"Wow,what if....." Well, its not all those "Things" that make a home. A home is made with love. Its foundation is Jesus Christ and love is built upon Him. A home is full of laughter and giggles. Its full of "TIME". That seems to be a word that is starting to crumble at the very core of our families. If we aren't giving time, and if we aren't giving love, then all that stuff really doesnt matter. If you ask a child would they rather have a house full of toys or a house full of love, what do you think they would choose? Yes, they might choose the toys at first, but they would get really lonely without the love to fill all that space, and family to enjoy all those toys together. Our families are falling apart all around us. Time, listening, and sharing are so valuable in teaching our children. I loved reading books to my kids, and telling them made up stories, going outside and playing every game we could think of. We are starting to put too much of what we want infront of what our family needs. I know of a woman that gave her sons everything they asked for,as they got older, they lost something, they had a hole in their hearts of all the time they really needed. She made up for all the time she wasn't there by buying them all they dreamed of. She was loving in the way she thought best, but in the end,the toys and stuff dont really matter. Its those little moments, those cookies baked together, the card games before bed, the barbie dolls having a party, and those G.I joes fighting in the big hole dug in the yard. Its all the snowball fights, the late night movies with shared laughs. Its laughing at the dinner table, and sharing birthday cakes. A house is just a house full of stuff, but a house can turn into a home with love overflowing from the rooftop....
