Right now, right here, lets just ask, "If you were to die today do you know where you would spend eternity?" It is a question we need to be asking everyone we meet. Everyone we know. We can't just assume. We must act today. We must love today.
We talk to friends and ask, "Where in the world did you get that cute purse?" We talk about our newest spring outfit. We ask questions about our new phones. We share advice on recipes and we talk about the weather as it changes from day to day. We chatter about our favorite television shows. We invite friends to parties and summer plays. We send out invites to graduations and celebrations of all kinds.
We smile as people pass by. We wave to our neighbors as we see them outside. We cast glances at strangers while standing in aisles at our local grocer. We share our thoughts about the latest books we read. We ask friends, "So, what did you think about the movie?"
Our first question to our friends, family, and all we meet should be, "Do you Jesus?" Does anything else really matter? We place our concern on the cutest shoes ever and hottest summer vacation spots. We can give directions to our favorite places to shop and where to get the greatest cup of coffee, but where are all those conversations about Jesus? Do those around us really know that we know Him? It should be so evident in our lives that as we walk with Him others should hear us speak of Him and see Him in our daily walk.
Life is passing us by. Moment by moment time simply disappears. As I am writing this sentence time is slipping away. My chances of reaching those around me draw closer to the end as each moment passes by. What are we waiting for? Each day of breath we have should be a reminder to breathe the love of Christ into everything we do. Our actions should reflect our love for Him. If we really love Him. I mean, really love Him, wouldn't we be sharing Him more than we share all else in our life?
Are we giving out directions to heaven? We like to joke and say, "Men will not stop and ask for directions." Do we as Christians openly share directions to heaven? Do we show others the way, the only way? There are no short cuts. There are no detours. If we have passed it by today, while there is still time we can make a U-turn. We want to go to heaven. Directly there. Not passing it by and not stopping off at a rest area. We need to be in drive mode, staying focused on our destination. We don't know our arrival time, but if we stay on course we will get there at the perfect time. What greater gift to our Savior than to share Him with everyone we meet? What greater gift is there to share with others? The ultimate gift of life.
Do you ever sit and take a look around your office? Your school? Yes, even your church. While we sit in wonder, do we ever ponder the thought if the one sitting next to us knows Jesus? Do we wonder if we will see our neighbor in heaven? Those that we walk the halls with. Those very people we entertain and have dinner with. Do we wonder if they know? Can they see Him through our lives?
Why are we waiting? Why are we not out there sharing Him with everyone we meet? We need to desperately get over ourselves and make our life all about Him. We need to stop looking in the mirror and look up at Him. It is not the things of this world that are important. The things of this world are not lasting. We entered this world with nothing and we will leave this world with nothing. It is not our home. The question is, "Where do we want to spend all of eternity?" Eternity is hard for us to imagine. Forever and ever we will spend our lives either in heaven or hell. They are both very real places. In heaven we will be with Jesus Christ forever. We will worship at His feet. I have tears just thinking about the beauty I can only imagine. In hell we will be forever separated from Jesus. I could write about the fire that forever burns, and the never ending suffering, but for me, the worst part is being separated from Jesus forever. Having no chance to undo what we waited too long to do.
There are some who believe just living a good life will get us to heaven. That is not true. Many good people will forever be in hell because they never chose to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. Some think heaven is right here on earth. No, heaven is far greater. Jesus has been preparing heaven for us for thousands of years. Can you imagine? Streets of gold? The gold we here on this earth think to be so valuable, but in heaven we walk upon it. Majesty and glory will reign forever. Where is your heart? Where is your treasure? We were made for more. We were made for a greater cause.
We can choose Christ. We can choose to believe. What does it mean to choose Christ? We accept Him. We know Him. We believe that He was born to a virgin. We believe that He was born the Savior of the world. That He died for our sins. That He took upon Himself the sins of the world so that we could find life in Him. That we could find forgiveness. That we could be wrapped in His grace. That we could find His mercy in the depth of our sins. He is enough. He is all that we need. He not only died for our sins, but on the third day He rose again. He rose from death to bring us life. As He prepares heaven for us today, He will one day return for those who love Him. For those who have accepted Him. He is the Life Giver. He is our Redeemer. Our Deliverer.
He is forever present in our lives once we accept Him. See, He has already chosen us. He loved us before our first breath and He will love us even in our last. It is before that last breath we breathe that we must know Him to live with Him forever. Don't you want to know Him? Don't you want to know a better way? There is so much more to life than what this world has to offer.
I am just a simple girl. A girl who lives a simple life in the country. A girl who searched half her life to find what life was really all about. My life forever changed when I accepted Christ as my Savior. He chose me. I cannot get over that. He chose me. He loves me no matter what. An unconditional love that forever stands true.
Jesus Christ is the greatest gift we can give to another. I want to spend the rest of life sharing His goodness. His mercy and grace. I want to share Him with you. Where He is I want to be. If He isn't there, I don't want to be there. Will you go with me? Will you know Him today? Will you open your heart to all He is and has for you? There is no other time better than right now to know Him. Your life will be changed forevermore. Nothing will ever be the same.
For those us who know Him, are we sharing His mighty love each day? Are we making it our life's passion to reach those around us? We are missionaries for Christ. We are chosen. We are special. We were created in love and with a purpose far greater than our wildest imagination. Choose today to make a difference. Choose right now to change your life forever.
