God's word is nestled in everything great and small

I am amazed that no matter where I am, light or dark, I can see God in everything big and small. From the smallest creatures like the butterfly to the biggest constellations like Orion. I am one of those star gazers. I love looking up at the night sky and seeing before me a beauty that takes my breath away. For me, there is a connection for us to see God in everything. He makes His glory known. How can we look around and not see a magnificent Creator who beholds everything in His hands?

Have you ever studied the constellation Orion? It is one of those fascinating pictures of God placing light in just the right places for us to see clearly a portrait of His mighty power. Orion is known as the Great Hunter. When we look at Orion we see a helmet, a belt, a sword, a shield, a helmet, and his feet. That looks pretty much like the armor of God doesn't it? Lets check out these bible verses together:

Genesis 1:14-15 "Then God said, 'Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament; and it was so.'"

Psalm 147:4 "He counts the number of the stars; He calls them by name."

Isaiah 40:26 "Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these things, who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, by the greatness of His might and the strength of His power; Not one is missing."

Job 9:9-10 "He made the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades, and the chambers of the south; He does great things past finding out, Yes, wonders without numbers."

Job 38:31-32 "Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades, or loose the belt of Orion? Can you bring out Mazzaroth in it's season? Or can you guide the Great Bear with it's cubs?"

Amos 5:8 "He made the Pleiades and Orion; He turns the shadow of death into morning and makes the day dark as night; He calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out on the face of the earth; The Lord is His name."

We can look to God's word and see He created the stars. We can see He placed each one in perfect position. Why would He share Orion with us in the Bible if it did not have meaning? Doesn't everything He shares have meaning? Yes it does. So, what can we gain from Orion? Not only can we see the beauty in the constellation, but we can also see God showing us to place on our armor. Lets look a little deeper now:

*Belt of Truth
*Breastplate of Righteousness
*Sandals of Peace
*Shield of Faith
*Helmet of Salvation
*Sword of the Spirit

Ephesians 6:10-20 "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to the end with all perseverance, and supplication for all the saints and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak."

If we continue looking up toward heaven the Lord will show us everything we need to know about life, and salvation. He will give all we need to face each day and face it without fear, but joy. I love how in the darkness just a little flicker of light takes away the darkness. The same is with our hearts. Just a little of God goes a long way my friends. He fills us with all we need and more. We can simply look at His creation and see His love. We can look to the cross and see His passion. His passion is for His children.

John 1:4-5 "He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend."

John 8:12 "Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, 'I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.'"

In Orion's belt there are three bright stars. I do not think it coincidence that there are three bright stars in the belt, which would be the belt of truth. What is truth? John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by Me.'" We have the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, three in one, the Holy Trinity, which is truth.

If we simply open our eyes to God, believing all Christ has for us, we will be filled with the Holy Spirit. In staying focused on Christ, He will light our path. As He is our light, may we be a light to the world around us, shining brightly in a dim world.

Matthew 5:14-16 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before me, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father in Heaven."
