Are you looking for a book to warm your heart? Look no further. Sarah Sundin has added book 2 in the Wings of Glory Series. The first was "A Distant Melody". Book 2 moves from the story of Walt and Alley to Walt's brother, Jack Novac. He has a love for flying and has a little too much pride. He comes from a family of Pastors, but Jack feels he has a different calling. A hit occurs to the plane Jack is leading and he is injured. Jack is brought to the hospital where a lovely nurse, Ruth Doherty, cares for him. As Jack is healing, Ruth's heart is beginning to stir, but she doesn't want to date. There are things from her past that are keeping her from allowing love to touch her. Ruth's story touches my heart. She is not received by the other nurses. Ruth carries a deep beauty that is rare and jealousy is stirred. But Ruth finds a real friend. One she is learning to trust, May. Charlie, Jack's friend, is teaching Jack to humble himself and Charlie is falling for the friend who is reaching out to Ruth. They become more than friends, but family really. The Lord seems to know just what they all need. Ruth is also caring for her orphaned siblings. She lost her parents and is doing everything she can to care for those who cannot yet care for themselves. Ruth is one of those who has a heart willing to give, but her heart is in need of repair. Who will give Ruth what she needs? As World War 2 is raging on, we get a glimpse of what the men and women of this time are going through. Sarah is gifted at bringing us right there in the air with Jack and in the hearts of those yearning for more. Ruth is a character you fall in love with. She is a survivor and one who continues to press on. Jack sees something in Sarah that he himself is desiring, a heart beyond himself. We see faith grow within these pages. We see forgiveness bring healing, and we see love touch the lips of those who have been for more. I can only say praises for this second book of the series. I cannot wait for the third! Grab yourself a cup of coffee, wrap up warm and you will be in for a ride to another place and time.
