Kate Evens is a girl with big dreams and high expectations living in the 1930's. She is one not to just sit around and dream, but live out those dreams through great journeys. In her small town in Washington, there is a young man she is to marry, but she knows her heart is not in it. She cares deeply for this young man, but she is afraid if she marries she will never succeed in filling her dream as a bush pilot in Alaska. Not many women get to live out that dream, but Kate is determined to give it all she has.
Kate leaves behind the young man who is madly in love with her, along with her parents. As her mother is sad to see her go, her father, who taught her how to fly is excited to see his daughter follow her dreams.
Kate flies and lands in Alaska and now a real journey begins. She meet many interesting characters and finds the journey is not so easy. But does she have what it takes? There is one who comes along and catches Kate's eye, but Kate seems to catch the of many. She is a woman who knows what she wants and is willing to work hard to get it, but she is not willing to give of herself.
Kate is spunky, fearless, and one I admire. Just to follow your dreams as Kate does and experience new things is a gift. Kate not only must prove herself to the men who fly, but to herself. Through this she finds her true spirit. You will like Kate and the adventures that follow her. It seems there is a new one around every corner, but she is surrounded by the people of Alaska who have a heart for those chasing dreams. I enjoyed reading about Kate, her dreams and the journeys she traveled. She shows us never to give up, and how to push through our fears with faith.
