Have you read an obituary lately?

When is the last time you opened the paper up and read the obituary column? If you have ever really thought about it,its printed in black and white,it states their birth, death, children, spouse, grandchildren, and so on. It doesn't really share alot, except the stats of their life. How much better would it be to celebrate their life and give details, instead of the sadness of the end? I have often thought about obituaries, and I want mine to say how I lived, not how I died. I want it to celebrate my life and how I lived instead of the stats that don't really say much. What if it told what kind of grandfather you were, what kind of mother you were, who you touched in your life and who touched you? What if it told where you lived your whole life, and what your dreams were as a kid? What if it spoke about not just where you worked, but who you worked with and what you did? What about hobbies, the things in life that made you happy, that brought you joy? An obituary shouldn't be a paragraph long,it should be much more. It should be a living testimony of your life shared here on earth with the ones you loved. Not just in black and white, but add the colors of who you were. The impact you made here on this earth and just how Jesus changed your life. That is the kind of obituary I would like to have. To open the paper and see celebrated lives, loved ones being remembered by others, a perfect picture that shows just who you are. The obituary should not be the end,it should be celebrated as the beginning of your life with Christ. A witness for your love for Him,and all those around you. When we don't share the little details, things are missed. Wouldn't it be nice to read all about the good things in their lives, and smile at the thought of them with Jesus. It would be nice to take a little peice away with us,just a small peice of who those who have passed this earth really were.....
