The Buffet?
From Genesis to Revelation God's word stands firm. It is never changing, it is all we need to live by. From the Old Testament to the New Testament God's word brings us to Him. The Old Testament is those looking ahead for a Savior, and the New Testament are those looking back at the Savior.Jesus is in each page. His words speak to our hearts. Are they words we always want to hear? No, no one wants to realize they are a sinner. No one wants to realize they need change in their lives, and for sure,no one wants to have to admit they are living wrong, and doing wrong. Some look to the bible as a buffet. One that they can take what they want and throw out the rest. We can't pick and choose each part we like that will help our lives, and disagree with the words that we do not want to hear or dislike. Becoming a christian for me, was a life changing moment. I had to allow God to teach me and mold me,letting go of my sins. That isn't always easy. We want to have control of our lives, and live them just as we please, but if we are doing so,we are saying we are bigger and more important than God. We are lowering His standards to fit ours. At first I had a hard time of letting go,of giving God control over my life. But when I did, what an amazing feeling of freedom. The more I grow with Christ the more I realize this world has nothing to offer me that Christ cannot fill. Picture yourself at the buffet line, waiting in line to choose your food. We can take a little of this and alot of that, and no, I don't want to try that,so I pass it up. I want to sit at the table and have God fill my plate with all He has for me. We have to be humble, we can't be proud coming to Christ. If we have humble hearts, and keep our minds pure, God can do alot of amazing things through us and for us. Its when we leave the buffet alone, and come to the table Christ has prepared for us that we really learn about Him, and ourselves.....
