Still House Pond is book 2 in the series "Troublesome Creek Series". This is a lovely story told in the late 1800's. The young Lilly Gray Corbett has a love of animals and is just a simple gem of a girl. She is off to spend time with her aunt, but during that time there is a train accident leaving her mother, Copper, terrified and determined to find her daughter. For me, I think Copper is the main character of this story. It is one of faith, hope and a deep rooted love of family. We see the importance of family and how when trials come, those we love step out to help us find our way. We see a daughter ready to explore and a mother not quite ready to let go. But in her deep rooted faith, she knows the Lord is in control. This was a wonderful read, taking us back in time, but it is a story of today also.
