those seeds go oh so far

As my husband is out today tilling the garden and blading the drive way I am out with Daisy, and what do I see as I look down? Daisy has found herself a dandelion. She figures out as she runs through these seedlings, they are casting away everywhere. I pick one up, just as I did as a child and blow on it, watching the seeds fly through the air as the wind carries them to new places to grow.
I love dandelions. To me, I don't think they are weeds. For those who do, I think they are missing out on beauty. Oh, those little hands that use to carry them into me and place them in a jar for keeping. The kids and I would have a time just picking them, and watching them scatter in the wind.

As we walk in our faith, we have the power to plant seeds and watch them grow. Sometimes our seeds are carried farther than our eyes can reach, and although we are not able to watch these new seeds grow, others can see in abundance what just one word, one touch, one giving of love has done.

Our words and actions spread all across those who encounter our paths. What are we planting? Are we planting good seed for others to sow, or could we be planting bad seeds for others to see, to pluck up, and throw away? Our walk represents Jesus. We carry His name and how we walk is a reflection of our relationship with Him.

I want to live in such a way that just as that dandelion spreads its seeds by the wind to grow in other areas, I too want to plant and sow the right seeds, so the Lord can find glory in my life.

Ever think about how far just one word can travel? Gosh, it can go all across the world now in just seconds. Gossip can spread like wild fire, and most of the time we have no problem spreading those seeds. Those are easy, they take no effort at all, but once they are planted, its so hard to till them back up. Why do we find so many excuses for not spreading God's word? We don't have to stand in front of the local grocery store, (Unless God call us to), we can spread God's word by just living for Him. If we are truly living for Him others will see a difference in us. If we are out there in this world, but not being part of it, we are a living testimony to God and others will see that seed as it sprouts out across the land.

Once you blow on one of those dandelions, you catch the fever of your childhood, and you just want to run through them, watching those seeds soar through the air. Once we start living for Christ, once we come out of our box, reach out to others with a smile, and see just how God moves through us, we catch onto that fever of wanting everyone around us to know who Jesus is, and what a life they could have if they would only seek Him first.

The next time your out in your yard and you see a dandelion, pick it, blow, and caste it into the wind, see if just spreading those seeds doesn't add a smile to your face.
2 Timothy 2:15-16 "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly."
Micah 6:8 "He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God."
Matthew 9:37 "Then he said to his disciples, the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."
